After how much I enjoyed Host, I was really looking forward to this one. Unfortunately it was kind of a letdown.

Its biggest problem is Annie Hardy, who, as far as I can tell, is essentially playing herself in this movie?

(Spoilers ahead) It’s one thing to have terrible main characters get what’s coming to them in horror movies. It’s another, less satisfying, harder to watch thing to have terrible main characters make it out alive. Which happens in this one.

There are some seriously creepy moments in this, and a weird mystery you don’t really get a lot of answers to. It’s not too long, but it does feel slow in the beginning, and all you really get is less sympathy for Annie.

But this is not a movie I would recommend much at all, especially if you’re looking for the kind of cathartic escapism I often look to in horror movies.
