Dread (2009)★★☆☆☆

I don’t have a lot to say about this movie because there wasn’t a lot going on for most of it. In fact, it was more than two-thirds of the way through before anything really scary happened – before that it’s all just talk about fear.

And then, when the scary stuff does start happening, it’s not all that interesting because you could see it coming from a mile away. I mean, seriously – they’d known Quaid all of, what, a week? He seemed pretty unhinged that first night and then just kept going further and further off the deep end.

The acting was fine but the plot was weak and predictable at best, contrived and excruciatingly slow at worst. It’s not the worst film I’ve watched so far, but I couldn’t bring myself to give it more than two out of five because it just felt so. Damn. Slow.
