Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)★★☆☆☆
So I am going to watch a LOT of Friday the 13th films this month, leading up to and just after Friday, September 13th. Like, a lot. I want to say ten different movies starting with this one.
So I’m going to try to change up my viewing habits for this collection and not only watch these a little earlier, but also swap between this franchise and the other movies on my calendar, because ten Jason movies in a row is A LOT. We’ll see if this plan makes it any easier.
Anyhow, this movie starts off as a direct sequel to the original, so I started off mostly on board…and then it got to the weird Michael Bay-esque opening title sequence? I wasn’t sure how to take that, but I was still as on board as I’d have expected before the opening credits rolled.
And then…I don’t know, I found this movie to be just short of just fine. It’s not the worst movie ever, but it’s not good, and I’m worried I’m setting myself up for a week and a half of two-star films.
This movie is essentially the same as the first, with worse acting, a worse (and less original) story, and a bunch more deaths at a campsite. I’d suggest skipping this one. We’ll see if I suggest watching ANY of the next nine, I guess.
