Happy Death Day 2U (2019)★★★☆☆

Okay, maybe I should have had slightly more skepticism for this movie than I did. It was unfortunately a bit disappointing, so, you know, happy birthday to me?

(I’ll try not to spoil too much, but…)

I did appreciate how the Universal opening logo was used, again, to tell you what the movie was all about. I also did appreciate (some of) the additional context this movie provided for the first one, and how it picked up immediately after that one.

I was a bit worried that one of the most annoying characters was the focus of this one, but that turned out not to be the case (at least not entirely).

I thought the characterization of Carter was worse in this one, and the stuff with Tree’s family too predictable. And while I do feel like this answered some questions the first one asked, I don’t think those answers are necessary…so you can probably skip this movie unless you REALLY liked everyone from the first.
