It Chapter Two (2019)★★☆☆☆

Don’t watch this movie. Really, don’t watch it. It’s not worth it. I’m so mad about this movie. This movie is the longest movie I have watched yet. It beats the Suspiria remake by SEVENTEEN MINUTES. But it honestly feels even longer than that. And wholly unnecessarily.

Honestly, this is probably a one-star movie. It is SO boring. I said of the first one that there were some over-the-top visuals that weren’t scary? This one is basically ALL over-the-top visuals, so none of it is scary. But it has James McAvoy, and Bill Hader, and Jessica Chastain! And the performances are pretty good! So I felt bad not giving it that extra star?

But I almost could not make it through this movie. Also, I don’t understand what was going on with the kids’ scenes. In the first movie, it’s the last day of school, and then they deal with It and all that comes with It. So were all the scenes in this movie dreams the kids had? Because at least Ben had some in-class scenes that didn’t fit the timeline?

So there were a ton of unnecessary additional scenes, the story itself was boring, nothing was scary, and this movie was ALMOST THREE HOURS LONG. Together with the first part, that makes this adaptation just about TWICE as long as the 1990 adaptation, which was a two-part miniseries.

I just…I can’t in good conscience recommend this movie at all, even if you’re looking for closure after watching the first part. The first part I’d recommend! This one I’d avoid. I wish I had.
