Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022)★★★☆☆

Wow, people on the internet REALLY hate this movie. There are literally hundreds of one-star reviews (out of TEN!) on IMDb truly trashing everything about this movie. And I…thought it was actually okay! Better than yesterday’s movie, anyway (which somehow has better ratings on IMDb than this one).

Is it perfect? Absolutely not. But it’s short, and I found it entertaining. People said the acting was bad, the special effects were bad, and the Creeper was “ruined” in this movie. Make of that what you will, but I will say I didn’t find the acting any worse than in most of the other B-movies I’ve seen. I will grant the reviewers that the CGI and other special effects are pretty bad.

Okay, okay, some (most?) of the dialogue is also pretty bad, it’s hard to care about anyone at all in the film, and the (Spoiler Alert?) cult stuff is weird and unintentionally hilarious. But I found this pretty watchable, more so than many of the movies I’ve watched this month (and this year). It’s just fine. Kind of funny overall…maybe REALLY funny overall, actually.

And maybe that’s the problem…a lot of the reviews were talking about “walking out” or not believing they “paid” for this. I could see going to a movie theater for this and being really disappointed? But I watched it streaming from the comfort of my home and while it’s certainly not the best in the Jeepers Creepers franchise, I didn’t think it was the worst. …Not even after the last scene with the birds.
