Ju-on: The Grudge (2002)★★★★☆

So, I didn’t realize this movie isn’t even the ORIGINAL original of the whole “Grudge” series? There are two “Ju-on” movies BEFORE this one…but I didn’t add them to my calendar, so you’ll have to watch those on your own, I guess. Here I’m going for this one first, and then the American remakes…for better or for worse.

And this is a good, scary movie. It can be a little hard to follow at times (perhaps because it’s in Japanese, or maybe it’s just me), but it gets absolutely terrifying in many moments.

I also feel it starts and ends strong. I think the way some of the exposition works through the victims is really interesting, so you get a slow (but not too slow!) build up of tension and understanding.

And honestly? Creepy kids are always creepy!
