Longlegs (2024)★★★★☆

Finally getting around to yet another hyped up 2024 film. I do like Nicolas Cage, though, and I was pretty excited about this one. And today’s the 14th, so it felt…fitting.

There’s a lot of interesting camerawork here. And use of color, especially red. And the score is so interesting. It feels claustrophobic but not cloying. It really adds to the tension and feeling that something is wrong here.

I think this might be my favorite Maika Monroe performance. And Nicolas Cage is great. And I love Alicia Witt.

This is a well done film, but I found the ending to be a mild letdown. The movie does such a great job of instilling dread and terror throughout, but the explanation and the last few scenes felt incongruous with that tone.

This is definitely worth a watch, but only if you like scary movies already.
