My Best Friend's Exorcism (2022)★★★☆☆

This movie is a little difficult to explain. Especially if you haven’t read anything by Grady Hendrix. This is based on the Grady Hendrix novel of the same name, and tries to achieve the same tongue-in-cheek tone his books do.

To varying success. I actually really like all the performances here, but the overall tone doesn’t really work for me. It’s not scary (I feel some of the scarier scenes work better in print than on screen). It’s not all that funny (and I do think Grady Hendrix pulls off the tongue-in-cheek tone in the novels). And it’s just a bit too long.

I think I’ve seen better 1980s horror-comedies this year. You can probably skip this unless it’s your favorite of his novels?
