Phantoms (1998)★★★☆☆

I struggled on rating this one. It’s weird, like two different movies in one. The first hour of this movie is SO SLOW AND BORING, and the last half hour is like rapid-fire screams and thrills.

If it were better paced, it would probably be a four-star movie, but it’s a slog to get through the beginning and it’s hard to give it that extra credit.

I think the reveal is interesting, the explanations are about as okay as you can expect, and the performances are fine.

I wouldn’t actively recommend against watching this film, but you’ll have a better time if you’re also doing something else for the first hour of it.
