Phenomena (1985)★★★★☆

I definitely should not have enjoyed this movie as much as I did. It’s a bit longer, and feels that way…it’s not really scary (unless you’re scared of insects in general), and a lot of it is just silly.

But I was so entertained! It was (unintentionally?) hilarious! Like, “it’s perfectly normal for insects to be slightly telepathic” hilarious!

Besides, it has Jennifer Connelly! Particularly Labyrinth-age Jennifer Connelly, which might be my absolute favorite Jennifer Connelly.

The pacing is weird, they don’t actually do enough with the insects, and the plot only sort of makes sense…but I enjoyed this more than I expected and more than I should have, and I would absolutely recommend it to any Jennifer Connelly (or Dario Argento) fan.
