Saw IV (2007)★★★☆☆
This one was okay. I’m glad I’m spacing these out to one a week because I think I’m already burned out on Saw movies.
On the one hand, I feel like this director has finally hit his rhythm with this franchise. There weren’t as many artsy effects or weird close-ups as there have been in the past two films. I’m a little disappointed that this is the last film in the franchise from this director.
Then again, on the other hand this was a bit slow and the characters kind of flat. The look on Donnie Wahlberg’s face in his last reprise as Eric Matthews mirrored how worn out I felt on that plot. And while all the cast was just fine in this, I didn’t care about any of them. They were just that boring.
Anyway, this was just okay. Good background music, probably. I’m less excited for next week’s movie than I was for this week’s, so maybe those lower expectations will lead to less disappointment.
