Scream 4 (2011)★★☆☆☆

Poster

Well, that’s kind of a bummer…this is the first installment I could barely make it through. And it’s the last film Wes Craven directed. Both the last film in the Scream series directed by him, and the last film he ever directed.

This isn’t the worst movie I’ve watched this month, but it’s not good. It was the same formula - only this time it tried to call itself a “reboot” because it came out ten years later than the last and has a “new generation” of some characters…but then the plot was still just the same old characters doing the same old things.

Also, for one of the shorter entries in the franchise (only 111 minutes!), this movie felt the longest to me. And the reveal just wasn’t interesting. And they didn’t even make a Friends reference in this one!

Oh well. Guess we’re on to the “real” reboot next? (Sort of, even though the one after tomorrow’s is officially Scream 6, and there are still a bunch of old characters in the next one?)
