The Aviary (2022)★★★★★
Wow, I like this movie a surprising amount. I definitely remember liking it on my first watch, and even rewatching it at 1.75x speed this time, I was thinking WOW. So much yet so little happens. So many questions are posed and rarely answered.
There’s a lot of tension and emotion in this film. There’s a lot happening between Jillian and Blair not only through their words, but through their dreams, their visions (hallucinations?), and their actions.
The scariest part of this movie is how possible it all feels. I was so impressed with Malin Akerman’s performance, and her chemistry with Lorenza Izzo was impeccable. Chris Messina as Seth was exactly as creepy as he needed to be.
There’s not a lot of action. There’s not a lot of blood and gore. But this is a psychological scare that can really cut deep.
