The Blackcoat's Daughter (2017)★★★★☆

Poster

Ok, so this isn’t technically a “Christmas” movie. And I think most of it takes place in February (an alternative title for the film, actually). But it feels quite…Christmas-y. Or at least wintery.

And I did want to include this one this year, because I find it really interesting, and I forgot it was Oz Perkins, whose Longlegs I mostly enjoyed. Somehow I like this one better.

I don’t even have a good explanation for why I like it so much I’ve watched it several times in the past few years. It’s slow, and there’s not a lot happening, and the scary parts aren’t the bulk of the film.

Maybe it’s Kiernan Shipka. Maybe it’s just the ambiance. I don’t know what it is, but I like this movie.
