The Breed (2006)★★★★☆

I know I have already said a few times not to watch things if you’re a dog lover…well, this is like the epitome of movies not to watch if you’re a dog lover.

(Spoilers ahead) Don’t get me wrong, the dogs definitely hold their own through most of this movie…but there’s more than a few hard to listen to whimpers and “oh shit dog” moments.

But I like this movie. I like Oliver Hudson. I like Taryn Manning. I even mostly like Michelle Rodriguez.

There’s tension, there’s a story that mostly makes sense, and there’s only about an hour and a half of movie overall. And you know how I love shorter movies.

And look, I am a dog lover myself! And here, honestly, mostly I was impressed with the extent of training and choreography obviously required for a film where a wild pack of dogs is a main antagonist. Plus some of those dogs …okay okay, all of those dogs…are just so damn cute.
