The Canal (2014)★★★★☆

Oh good, a movie I enjoyed more than I was expecting! Feels like it’s been a little while since I came across one of those.

There are certainly some parts of this that drag on, and there’s a reveal that’s a bit obvious towards the end, but the overall tone, story, and concept here all came together quite nicely.

I thought everyone put in great performances. I even liked the kid who played Billy! I absolutely believed he was obsessed with dinosaurs.

I thought Rupert Evans as David was believably distraught and distracted throughout. It was a great performance of not truly understanding what was happening around him, all while what happened around him kept escalating.

I didn’t find this fully scary, but I was intrigued and it was definitely creepy. I think this one is definitely worth a watch!
