The Cellar (2022)★★★★☆

Poster

I was a bit surprised how much I liked this movie. Maybe it’s because it’s been a long time since I’ve seen Elisha Cuthbert in anything, and it was somewhat disorienting to have her play the “mom of a teenager” as opposed to practically being the teenager herself. Am I feeling old??

Regardless, I genuinely enjoyed this. I love creepy houses. I love ancient folklore stories. I love stories about family and love and loss. And I love movies that get to the point without feeling too slow. And this movie has pretty much all of that.

I found it quite interesting. I think some of the tangential stuff, like the fact that Elisha Cuthbert’s character was a branding or marketing manager or something and having to sit through some of those campaign meetings, got a little long, but it didn’t impact my enjoyment of the film.

I’d recommend this one pretty broadly!
