The Houses October Built (2014)★★★★☆

Hopefully this weekend I’ll have more energy to give you some real reviews (though I am throwing a Halloween party…), but this’ll have to suffice for now.

This movie gets a lot of points for being one of the few genuinely scary movies I’ve watched this year. Watching this movie alone in the dark will likely haunt you for months afterwards. And I like that kind of thing.

Sadly the movie moves too slowly at some points. I remember checking the clock several times throughout and wondering when the movie was going to end.

But the story is interesting, the style (found footage mixing real interviews/people with fiction) is interesting, and the characters are interesting. I’d love to travel the country in an RV looking for the best haunted houses! But maybe not the “extreme” kind. This movie is enough of that for me.
