The Long Night (2022)★★★☆☆
I was hoping I’d like this one a bit more than I actually did. It’s a high three stars, but just not quite four stars.
Honestly, it starts out strong. There’s a creepy old house in a very rural area. Some cult things happening. A search for family. All the makings of something really interesting, and the first half of the movie does a good job of building up some tension and scares!
But then it kind of falls apart and slows down too much towards the end. It becomes predictable, which isn’t always a bad thing, but doesn’t really work for this film. It gets slow and the camera work gets too artsy.
And then the ending scene is…well, it feels a little silly. I don’t NOT recommend this movie or anything, but it could have been a lot better!
