The Night House (2021)★★★☆☆

First, I want to make a (much smaller) content warning about discussions of suicide in this movie.

I really wanted to like this movie. It got pretty good critic reviews, I like Rebecca Hall, and the cinematography is really interesting!

But the movie as a whole didn’t impress me as much as I’d hoped. It’s a slow movie until the very end, when it picks up and you (kind of) get an explanation for all the weird stuff happening.

And Rebecca Hall is truly great in this movie! Believably devastated and searching for answers!

But the slowness for most of the film just felt a bit boring. I don’t know what I would have done differently myself, but I feel like something was missing from this.

It’s a reasonably interesting story, but the execution just didn’t fit quite right for me.
