The Pact II (2014)★★★★☆
Okay, a lot of things make more sense the second time around now that I’ve actually seen the first film. Not everything, though. This film left me with about as many unanswered questions as the first. Which is okay – I don’t expect every story to be perfect, especially in horror movies. And for the most part the plot makes sense and there aren’t any obvious holes.
But, I mean…is the implication that Charles Barlow and Officer Meyer like, hung out together while Barlow was still alive? Because Meyer tells June Abbott that he’s loved her before they ever met – which according to June was a few years back at community college. And according to Agent Ballard, Barlow was killed the week before the events in this film.
Aside from that, this movie is about as good as its predecessor. The performances are all good (particularly the returning characters), though no one seems to like each other much in this movie. There are a few points that drag a bit and you can see the twist coming from a mile away, but overall it’s still an entertaining watch. And still creepy.
