Blood, Sweat and Cheer (2023)★★★★☆
Okay, I’m glad June pulled itself together for the last week or so (and I guess the first week was pretty good too, so I really just picked a bunch of duds for the middle of the month?).
This isn’t a great movie, but it’s fun. It’s a Tubi original, distributed by MarVista, so it’s kind of this odd Lifetime-esque horror comedy? It’s not scary, it’s wholly unbelievable, but it’s campy fun.
I think I found this when I was looking into what Tammin Sursok had done recently? She played Allie in Cam2Cam and I always liked her, so I figured this would be a reasonable add to the calendar.
And I wasn’t wrong! Hers was really the only familiar face, and while I don’t think she could ACTUALLY fool others that she’s a teenager, she really did throw herself into the role of Renee here.
This movie is short, silly, and campy. I’d recommend it for fans of horror-comedy and cheerleading, I guess! Now on to July…here’s hoping I made some better choices for next month.
