Mom and Dad (2018)★★★★☆

It’s my mom’s birthday today (happy birthday, Mom!!), so I chose this movie. This is a silly movie, and I liked it.

But it’s silly. (Some spoilers)

Like, Nicolas Cage totally unhinged, gleefully shouting “motherfuckers” at a closed basement door silly. Frenetic pacing mixed with slow, dreamy flashback sequences silly.

And there’s no ending. I mean, the movie ends, but the story doesn’t? So it’s definitely not perfect.

But I like Selma Blair, I like unhinged Nicolas Cage performances, and I like short movies that feel short, so I can get behind this movie. It’s not too scary, but it is pretty gory, and there are some hard to watch scenes.
